TGIFriday

TGIFriday!

Well, we made it!  Another week survived and a good weekend on the horizon.

Spring is in full swing in New Orleans (as it has been for months now in the absence of any real winter).  The weather is beautiful and Fridays during lent can only mean one thing...

I love getting together with friends to boil crawfish, fry fish, or just to  unwind at the end of the week over a beer on the porch.

I've also been spending a little more time in the French Quarter, since a friend bought a condo on Royal Street.  This is the time of year to fall in love with the Quarter!  It is also the perfect backdrop for taking it easy and watching the changing scenery.

I have been reading Natalie Scott, A Magnificent Life, by John W. Scott.  It is a wonderful book and she was truly a woman ahead of her time.  Also, it is lovely to hear how people dressed, spoke, wrote and enjoyed themselves in a much different time.  I love reading about all of the places in New Orleans she spent time, and she was one of the original founders of La Petit Theatre.

Cafe Amelie

Cafe Amelie has the perfect courtyard for eating outside this time of year.  I would love to bring the family there for lunch on Saturday and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Or maybe we'll do something more like this...

Ahh, the simple joys in life.

 Enjoy the weekend!

C'est Si Bon!

"C'est Si Bon!" was the toast as long as I can remember.
My grandfather, known as "Hughsey", the consummate host and Gin connoisseur would always raise his glass to the same toast.
Pictured here are my grandparents, Hugh and Joan (seated closest to the camera), with their lifelong friends Claude and Fran.
When the idea slowly crawled into my brain to create a blog, I could think of no better name for it, in part because of what it came to mean in my life. "C'est Si Bon", literally translates as "It is so good", and while it is usually in reference to food or drink (see dry Gin Martini on table above), it refers to all that is good and should be enjoyed in life. Everything that makes the world go round. Good friends, family, food, music, literature....

...And it doesn't hurt that one of my all time favorite Louis Armstrong songs shares the name.

This is a place to share the best of life. Cliche? Perhaps. But, necessary? Absolutley.
Too often we are so busy making a living or trying live the perfect life that we forget to Live Well.
The irony is that we do not need to be millionares or live in mansions with butlers and maids to live the good life. It is the style in which we live our lives day to day and interact with one another.

This is all about fun!

I hope you will visit and share in all the little things that bring joy and happiness to my life.
So stop by, and raise your glass in a toast to life, because it is so good!
